Director: Robin Wilby. Logline: 13-year-old Sam lives with his dad at an amusement park. But today, with the arrival of his mother and a pink-haired girl, Sam is in for the ride of his life.
Massify and Killer Films (Boys Don't Cry, Kids, Far From Heaven) are producing LOOP PLANES by writer/director Robin Wilby and co-writer Austen Rachlis. Sam, LEAD. Sam is a female-to-male transgender 13-year-old. Born a girl, Sam lives as a boy. Sam is independent, charming, and daring. He is a hard worker, and extremely proud and respectful of the legacy of the amusement park. The actor playing Sam should be gender neutral or androgynous in appearance. Must be willing to cut hair. May be any gender, but prefer FTM trans boy, or boyish looking female. Caucasian or multiracial (fair complexion). Katie, LEAD. Sam's friend/love interest Katie is a rebellious 14-year-old, who tries to seem much more bad-ass and secure with herself than she actually is. She senses something different in Sam and is immediately drawn to him. The actor playing Katie should have long hair, which will be temporarily died pink for the role. Prefer Caucasian or multiracial (fair complexion).

Victor, LEAD. Sam's father Victor is in his mid 40s, husky and tough-looking, but a big teddy-bear of a man. Gentle and compassionate. He is a working-class, single father, extremely loving and accepting of his female-to-male transgender 13-year-old child, although struggling to raise Sam, and conflicted as to how to 'do right' by his child.

Roberta, LEAD. Sam's mother Roberta is in her mid 30s, a small, feminine, overly made-up woman. A 'Trashy' version of Kathy Lee Gifford. From a working-class background, Roberta is a social climber. She left her husband and child 10 years ago and has little contact with them. Although Roberta means well, she is oblivious to the needs of her child. Prefer caucasian or multiracial (fair complexion).
